Pink 4 o’clock Flowers

4 o’clock flowers get their name from the fact that the blooms only open up from 4 o’clock in the afternoon onward and then close up first thing the next morning when the sun comes up. Mine should be called 9 or 10 o’clocks because they don’t open up till much later and close up just as the morning light begins to turn that steely, gray blue – long before the sun even peeks over the horizon. (I’m sure the neighbors thought I was crazy taking pictures before 6 a.m. – flash just a firing away!)
