Remember how just last week I mentioned that I couldn’t seem to capture any photographs of BlueJays? Well this past weekend, these 2 guys showed up – squawking away at each other like 2 ornery old men, complaining like grouchy old neighbors meeting at the fence.
On to the ferns … It’s something you see a lot of in Florida: ferns growing out of palm trees! The palm boots collect leaf litter that composts to create a growing medium that ferns love. It is a natural occurrence and since the ferns are examples of epiphytes (like Spanish moss) they don’t cause the palm trees any harm. It has become a distinctive and unique symbol of tropical Florida and my ferns seem to be doing really well.
